The Spanish Peaks Residence

Where will the residence be located?
The location will be a quiet wooded ridge top with an unobstructed view of the Spanish Peaks and the Culebra range southwest of the SPRHC Clinic. The residence will be close to medical services with easy access for family and friends. Lathrop State Park and nearby towns offer amenities.

What will the community look like?
Twenty private studio apartments will be arranged around a common area where residents can socialize and entertain. Beside the dining area will be a large living room with fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the peaks. A shaded and protected patio/sitting area is planned for the south side of the building.

What will the living spaces be like?
Each studio will be designed for one person through it may be possible to combine two couples or friends. Each will have a window niche for sitting and visiting, a sleeping area, and a handicap accessible bathroom. Each will have buillt-in closets and cable hook-ups.

Typical Residential Suite

Who will live there?
Any person who could a more comfortable and active life if he or she had assistance with daily living. Besides help with daily tasks, residents will have the company of others and more chances to get out and about than if they were living independently. All incomes are welcome. You can put your name on a waiting list today.

What services will be offered?
Three meals a day will be cooked onsite for residents. As needed, staff will manage medications, laundry, light housekeeping, activity programs, and assistance with bathing and dressing. Other services may include help with transportation and appointments.

What organization will build this?
The assisted living community is the most important project to date for the Spanish Peaks Community Foundation, founded in 2010. The Foundation’s mission is to improve opportunity, prosperity, and pride in the Spanish Peaks community.

The SPCF will fund this newest addition to the Huerfano County medical complex by loans, grants, local contributions, and local events.
